If you’re looking for things to do in Seattle this summer, you won’t be disappointed. Whether you’re a visitor or a resident, you probably want to know which events are worth attending. The truth is, there are so many fabulous things happening in the area, you could attend an event every day and still not make it to every fair, festival, and food and alcohol tasting from June 21 through September 22. However, here are some of the highlights that you might not want to miss.
Seafair
Rated as one of the top 10 events in the U.S., the Seafair festival has taken place for over 50 years. You can enjoy this popular event for about two months – from June 15 to August 14 in 2016. The festival offers live music, arts and crafts, triathlons, and parades over that two-month period. The list of featured activities is long – so be sure to catch at least a day or two of the festival if you’re in town.
West Seattle Summer Fest
If you’re in West Seattle or can get there from July 8 through July 10, the West Seattle Summer Fest promises to be a good time. This neighborhood street fair is free to the public, and those in attendance may watch live performances, do some shopping, browse arts and crafts, and sample local foods. You can cool off with a cold one in the Beer Garden, and your dog may even get some relief from the heat in one of the doggie pools at the Pet Junction.
Seattle Chocolate Salon
Do you love chocolate? Then, you’ll want to be sure to attend the Seattle Chocolate Salon in July (which is, as yet, undated). This event has been an annual one for eight years, and chocolate aficionados adore it. This celebration of delectable artisan confections will make you wish it was available more often than once per year! Last year’s highlights included chocolate tasting and demonstrations.
Bite of Seattle
This food tasting extravaganza goes from July 15 through July 17. Admission to this food festival is free, and you’ll also have a chance to indulge in free samples. The “Just a Bite” options are under $4, and you can also participate in a wine tasting, as well as a craft beer and hard cider tasting.
Seattle Art Fair
The Seattle Art Fair is a relatively new event, and you may experience it from August 4 through August 7 in 2016. Galleries from across the world will be represented, but this amazing art show is meant to showcase the truly unique culture of the Pacific Northwest. The Seattle art scene is given special consideration at this event.
Out to Lunch Concert Series
How does the prospect of some free music during the lunch hour sound to you? This concert series is available from July 9 through September 4. The concerts are offered from 12 pm to 1:30 pm, and they can be found at various locations.
Bumbershoot
Bumbershoot is a festival of music, arts, comedy, and film, and it takes place during Labor Day weekend (from September 2 through September 4 in 2016). This is a huge cultural event in Seattle, and it promises to be packed from start to finish with performances you will not want to miss.
The fun never really stops in Seattle. This amazing city has so much to offer in every month of the year. Be sure to catch a ride to and from the events in the city (especially if you plan to drink alcohol or simply wish to avoid the hassle of finding parking) – you can look for yours via a convenient app. Both residents and visitors have much to look forward to in Seattle this summer.
